The money raised by an Extra Life team goes directly to their chosen Children’s Miracle Network Hospital as ‘unrestricted funds’. This means that the hospital decides where and how to spend the money to ensure they make the biggest impact in the lives of the kids they treat.
No worries! You can game for as much of the time as you like or even game on a different day.
While most people think of video games, there are no rules. Some teams have played board games, TTRPGs, or even schoolyard games.
Anyone of any age can participate, but please get permission from your parents if you're under 13.
Remember there's no requirement to game 24 hours straight. Many teams keep their stream going by having mulitiple players, but it's perfectly okay to take bathroom breaks, pause to eat, or go take a nap if you need it, and there's no problem if you decide to call it quits early, either.
Gaming
Nope! If you have followers or online friends who only know you by your handle, or even if you just prefer to maintain some privacy, you're free to use a streamer name.
The default goal amount for Classic participants is $100 USD, but there are no rules. You can set an amount that means something to you. For example, Extra Life found Jeromy Adams set his first goal back in 2011 for $5,415 USD: the total of $5 USD for every day his friend Tori spent fighting leukemia before she passed away.
No shame if you can't make it. No one will hold it against. That said, a bunch of tips available to help you reach your goal, and we really recommend you take a look as you start out.
Some more modern consoles allow you to connect directly through apps on the system. If you're using a PC, you can check out OBS, XSplit, or other broadcasting software. You can also read through Extra Life's Streaming 101 guide for more tips.
Donating
Your receipt should arrive in your email following your donation. If it doesn't, please contact Extra Life's support team. Please not if you donate to a hospital in Canada, the hospital's foundation will send you a receipt in February following the event.
If you or a donor are making a donation by check, please have it made out to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals with the name on the team's Extra Life account on the memo line. Rather than sending cash, send Extra Life a Cashier's Check or money order with the team name in the memo line. Offline donations can be sent to:
